BECOME ADDICTED TO SLOW FOOD!

We are in love with slow fashion, that is not a secret. We bet and work for it. But it is not the only slow universe we adore, because, for example we are hooked on slow food movement. Discover here the reasons of this crush and why this movement is so important for the planet and for our health.

WHAT IS THE SLOW FOOD MOVEMENT?

The slow food movement was born in the late eighties in Italy, as an answer against the crazy fast food industry that is getting almost the monopole around the world. According to www.slowfood.com, Slow Food is a global, grassroots organization, founded in 1989 to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions, counteract the rise of fast life and combat people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from and how our food choices affect the world around us”.

“Since its beginnings, Slow Food has grown into a global movement involving millions of people in over 160 countries, working to ensure everyone has access to good, clean and fair food”, www.slowfood.com

GET INVOLVED!

We could think that food is just food, only related to our feeding, but actually is tied to many other aspects of life, such as culture, politics, agriculture and the environment. Same as with clothes, our food choices are important because they affect our society and our planet. Believe us, how food is cultivated, produced and distributed can make the difference. An if we want a more sustainable and fairer world, we should bet for slow food, that is to say, food that meets these tree requirements:

GOOD: quality, flavorsome and healthy food

CLEAN: production that does not harm the environment

FAIR: accessible prices for consumers and fair conditions and pay for producers

EAT LOCAL, COOK WITH LOVE

As far as possible, try to assure you buy local products of quality, knowing their story behind. And, why not, start to cook choosing carefully the ingredients and following slow food recipes. Actually, it is like travelling back to the past, when people used to cook slowly and with a lot of love. Your body, your mind and, of course, your palate will thank you. Enjoy your meal! 😊
